Job Title
Childcare Manager
Overview
We are looking for a motivated and motivating person to help provide childcare as well as to assist in the education of our three kids.
The Childcare Manager role is a unique and exciting hybrid of teacher’s assistant and more traditional childcare.
If you’re a children’s teacher looking for a new job spark and the ability to focus your attention and skills on three rather than twenty-three or thirty-three students, or else a nanny or childcare provider looking to expand into education, then this job might be for you.
Who we are
We’re a happy Bay Area family of five.
We have two wonderful daughters, ages 11 and 5, as well as a well-mannered and tender-hearted boy, age 8, all born and primarily raised in San Francisco.
We began planning on privately home-educating our kids in the year prior to the pandemic. There are many reasons for it, but we were fundamentally interested in becoming more intentional about what our children learned, how they learned it, and who they learned it from.
We know that many home schools are religious in nature. This isn’t the case for us. This is a squarely secular and non-religious household and educational environment.
We have built a fully functioning classroom in an annex to our home. The kids are educated there by a combination of a full-time teacher/home-school Director (who will manage the position we’re now looking to fill), as well as individual subject matter instructors who tutor or will tutor them in languages, sports, and the arts.
We believe that art, music, sports, and cultural education is as critical as excellence in academics.
Who you are
You are a positive, curious, engaged person excited to make an impact on the lives of three bright young people. You’re helpful and have a can-do attitude. You’re interested in doing something without a template, and in getting a chance to create something cool and fun and important. You like spending time with kids, with few or no screens involved.
You have a valid driver’s license and are able and willing to drive the kids to and from occasional, after-school activities in relative proximity to our home. You can use our car.
You have three to five years of experience in education, or, if you don’t, you have formal experience in childcare.
References and background check are required.
Professional experience working privately with families in an educative or tutorial capacity is a major plus, as is an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Education or other relevant field.

Oversee daily transition from school day to afternoon activities, including helping them with light lunch, homework, study hall, and extracurriculars;

Work Monday through Friday from 10:30am to 5:00pm;
Remain later one evening per week and help put the kids to bed (though they are largely self-reliant);
Available one weekend per month for in-home stay, in the event of parents’ travel;
Ability to develop activities and keep children mindful and engaged (e.g., kids’ yoga, meditation, hikes in our backyard and surrounding area, mountain biking, sky’s the limit);
There is an opportunity in the future for overseas travel with family, but the current scope is purely local
The job is in-person
Compensation
$50,000 - $60,000 (USD) salary, less applicable taxes, dependent upon candidate experience
